Marymount Women’s Basketball Drops Season Opener in Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament; TCNJ and Haverford Advance to Championship Game

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team dropped its season opener 70-56 against Haverford in the 2013 Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.  The Saints will now face Lynchburg in the consolation game on Saturday while the Fords take on The College of New Jersey in the championship.

 

Three Saints scored in double-figures, led by freshman Theresa Wicks with 15 off the bench in her collegiate debut while Aileen Maknati added 14 while Katelyn Fischer chipped in 11.  The trio combined to go 11-for-29 from three-point range including five from Wicks and three each from both Maknati and Fischer. 

 

Fischer had yet another solid all-around game, adding a game-high nine assists to go with seven rebounds.  Kievanna Lacey and Miranda Krott also hauled in seven boards each while Lacey added a game-best four steals in the loss.

 

Elizabeth Lynch led the Fords with a game-high 21 points while Nina Voith added 19 to lift Haverford to the championship game on Saturday against TCNJ.

 

In the tournament opener, TCNJ defeated Lynchburg with four players scoring in double-figures.  Kylie O'Donnell led the way with 17 points while Kelly Roddy and Kelly Coughlin both chipped in 13 with Tiffany DiTulio adding 10.  Lynchburg's Chaney Forbush paced the Hornets with a double-double, scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

 

Marymount and Lynchburg square off on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the consolation game followed by TCNJ and Haverford in the championship at 7:30 p.m.  Fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.marymount.edu/athletics/wBasketball and selecting the "live stats" and "live video" links.
