Sophomore guard Ally Zywicki is accumulating post-season honors in basketball they same way she compiled statistics for the University of Rochester in the 2012-13 season. They are coming in bunches.
Zywicki has been cited as an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. This is her fourth honor since the end of the season. She was named First Team All-University Athletic Association, Second Team All-ECAC Upstate New York, and First Team All-East Region by D3hoops.com.
She is the 13th Rochester women's player to earn First Team All-UAA accolades and the first Yellowjacket sophomore to attain that honor.
Zywicki is the eighth Rochester women's basketball player in the past 11 years to earn All-America honors from the WBCA. Those women have accounted for 11 WBCA All-America honors, three of them as First Team selections (Erika Smith in 2002-03 and 2003-04, Jodie Luther in 2011-12). Smith and Melissa Alwardt earned All-America honors from D3hoops.com (Smith in 2003-04, Alwardt in 2009-10).
In 2012-13, Rochester posted a final record of 20-7. The Yellowjackets were 19-6 in the regular season and finished as the UAA runnerup with an 11-3 record. Rochester hosted a first round pod in the NCAA tournament. The Yellowjackets defeated Emmanuel College of Massachusetts, 70-66, in the opening round. They lost their second round game, 68-60, to Williams College.
Zywicki led Rochester in scoring with a 10.6 ppg. average, shooting 37.7% from the floor (89 of 236), 34.1% outside the arc (43-126), and 74.3% from the line. She added 78 rebounds (3.0 rpg.), 103 assists (4.0 apg.), and 38 steals in 26 games.
She finished 11th in scoring average in the UAA, fifth in assists, fifth in free throw percentage, seventh in three-point percentage, and sixth in three-point field goals made per game (1.7). She was second in assist-to-turnover ratio.
