University of Rochester point guards John DiBartolomeo and Ally Zywicki have been named First Team All-East Region by D3hoops.com for the 2012-13 season.
DiBartolomeo was named East Region Men's Basketball Player of the Year as well as First Team All-Region. This is his third Player of the Year citation since the end of the 2012-13 season. He was named the University Athletic Association Men's Player of the Year as well as the ECAC Upstate New York Men's Player of the Year. He was named First Team All-UAA and First Team All-ECAC Upstate New York. Earlier this month, he was named a finalist for the Josten's Trophy, given to a Division III player for a combination of playing skill, academic achievement, and community service.
Zywicki was named to the ECAC Upstate New York Second Team earlier in March. She was named First Team All-UAA at the end of the UAA season.
DiBartolomeo is a senior from Westport, CT and an alumnus of Staples High School. Zywicki is a sophomore from Liverpool, NY (Liverpool HS).
Zywicki is the 13th Rochester player to earn First Team All-UAA accolades and the first sophomore to achieve that honor.
DiBartolomeo led Rochester in a variety of statistical categories, including scoring (22.6 ppg.), rebounding (5.7 rpg.), assists (144 – 5.3 apg.), and steals (54 – 2.0 spg.). He shot 46.1% from the floor (181-393), 45.8% outside the arc (60-131), and 90.8% from the line (188-207). The Yellowjackets tied for the UAA team title at 10-4 and received at at-large bid into the NCAA playoffs. Rochester lost to Ithaca College, 70-68, in the second round.
In Rochester's first round NCAA playoff win over Fitchburg State (91-86), he scored a career high 42 points and added six assists. Rochester finished with a 22-5 record.
In 2012-13, Rochester posted a final women's record of 20-7. The Yellowjackets were 19-6 in the regular season and finished as the UAA runnerup with an 11-3 record. Rochester hosted a first round pod in the NCAA tournament. The Yellowjackets defeated Emmanuel College of Massachusetts, 70-66, in the opening round. They lost their second round game, 68-60, to Williams College.
Zywicki led Rochester in scoring with a 10.6 ppg. average, shooting 37.7% from the floor (89 of 236), 34.1% outside the arc (43-126), and 74.3% from the line. She added 78 rebounds (3.0 rpg.), 103 assists (4.0 apg.), and 38 steals in 26 games.
