Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's top-seeded women's basketball team defeating fourth-seed Salisbury 61-46 in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Thursday night.  The Saints advance to host the championship game on Saturday against second-seeded rival Mary Washington.

Four Saints scored in double-figures in the win, led by Aileen Maknati with a game-high 19 points.  The freshman sharpshooter went 7-for-9 from the floor including a hot 5-for-6 from three-point range.

Katelyn Fischer added 13 points, Kievanna Lacey had 12 and Miranda Krott notched 10 points in the win.  Fischer led all players with six assists and added a team-high three steals.

A slow beginning to the first half put the Saints in an early hole they had to dig out of.  Salisbury (15-12) opened the game on a 17-3 run in just over six minutes of action.  Marymount would begin to chip away at the deficit and put together an 8-0 run in the final two minutes of the frame to pull within a pair down 27-25 at the break.

Coming out of halftime, Maknati drilled home a three-pointer on the opening possession to give the Blue and White their first lead of the game.  A pair of subsequent Sea Gull free throws momentarily put the visitors back on top before Maknati hit another trifecta to give Marymount the lead for good.  Salisbury would keep things close through the first half of the second stanza before the Saints posted a double-digit lead at the 9:16 mark and held off the Sea Gulls at bay the rest of the way.

Katie McGahagan led Salisbury with 18 points and nine rebounds.
