Alvernia Falls To LVC Despite Career-High From Ebersole #17 Dutchmen Defeat Alvernia 84-63

Annville, Pa. (Jan. 19, 2013) - Freshman Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) put up a career-high 22 points--also a game-high, but it wasn't enough as Alvernia (6-9, 3-6) fell to host #17 Lebanon Valley (15-2, 9-1) 84-63 this afternoon in Commonwealth Conference action.  The Dutchmen took the first half 43-30 and followed that up with a solid 41-33 second half to secure their 15th win of the season.

Other than a brief 2-2 tie early in the game, the Dutchmen led for the entire game and built an early lead of ten at 13:44 in the first half.  After five straight points from Ebersole, Alvernia cut LVC's lead to just five, 16-11 at 12:31, but LVC rallied for the ten of the next 12 points to take a 13-point lead with nine minutes left in the first half.  They built their lead to as much as 16 as the first half concluded, and went into halftime with a comfortable 43-30 lead.

Alvernia managed a 12-4 run to start the second half getting to within five, 47-42 at 14:33 and again, 49-44 at 14:01.  From there on out it was all LVC as they posted an 18-8 run to take an easy 67-52 lead, and added to that even more, growing their lead to as much as 23, 77-54 at 4:21.

Ebersole led all scorers with 22, while Kayla Long (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) added 12 for the Crusaders and led the team with 12 rebounds.

Alvernia is back in action on Jan. 21 when they travel to conference newcomer Hood College for a 6:00pm tip-off.
