Salisbury, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team could not overcome their first-half slump in falling 68-48 at Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.

Tonight's loss seals St. Mary's (10-11, 4-7 CAC) fate as the fifth seed in the upcoming 2013 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament, ensuring the Seahawks a return trip to fourth-seeded Salisbury for first-round playoff action on Tuesday, February 19.

Junior center Sophie Pruden (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) was the only Seahawk to score in double digits tonight as Pruden tallied 10 points and six rebounds while fellow classmate Myeisha Wallace (West River, Rd./Southern Senior) hauled in a team-best 10 boards and added six points.

The Sea Gulls (13-11, 6-5 CAC) opened up with an 11-0 run and never relinquished their double-figure lead en route to a 38-17 halftime advantage as Salisbury shot 50.0% to the Seahawks' 26.9%. However, St. Mary's won the rebounding battle as Pruden and senior guard Joanna Murray (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) each pulled down six first-half caroms to their team a 19-14 rebounding margin.

St. Mary's outscored the Sea Gulls, 31-30, in the final 20 minutes with a much-improved shooting performance, connecting on nearly 45% of its second-half shots. Finding themselves down 36 points with 8:29 remaining in the game, the Seahawks closed out the game on a 20-4 run behind three consecutive three-pointers.

Salisbury capitalized on the Seahawks' 26 turnovers for 26 points while St. Mary's edged the hosts by one on the glass.

Sophomore guard Courtney McManus (Doylestown, Pa.) paced the Sea Gulls with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from downtown while senior forward Katie McGahagan (Baltimore, Md.) pounded the boards for a game-best 17 rebounds.

The Seahawks will wrap up the regular season this Saturday, February 16 when St. Mary's welcomes the University of Mary Washington to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena on Senior Day. Tip-off is at 2:00 pm.

Prior to the start of Saturday's game, Murray, Jasmine Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), Pui Sham (Springfield, Va./West Springfield), and Taylor Petrisko (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) will be honored for their careers as members of the Seahawk women's basketball team.
