Millikin Women Fall to Wheaton

          The Millikin women's basketball team had its three game winning streak snapped in an 83-59 loss to Wheaton College at the Griswold Center on Feb. 9.

          Wheaton built and 39-26 advantage at the half and went on to win behind solid shooting and a dominating rebounding performance.  The Thunder shot 48 percent from the field and held Millikin to 32 percent.  Wheaton won the battle on the boards 51-33.  Millikin forced Wheaton into 21 turnovers while committing 16.

          The Big Blue celebrated Senior Day and senior Nikki Tipsword led Millikin in scoring with 16 points.  Fellow senior Brittney Gallivan scored six and grabbed three rebounds while the Big Blue's third senior Olya Cholewick had a team high six rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Jasmine Johnson and Bria Williams each had 13 points for the Big Blue and Brittany Czaplicki added 11.

          Hannah Considine led the Thunder with 26 points.  Brooke Olson had 11 points and a game high 15 rebounds. 

          Millikin falls to 8-14, 3-9 while Wheaton improves to 19-3, 10-2.  The Big Blue will travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, Feb. 16 for a 5 p.m. game.
