Junior Taylor Young had 18 points and the host Tommies used a 47-22 rebounding advantage to end St. Benedict's 10-game winning streak with a 65-46 win in Saturday's MIAC women's basketball game at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (18-5 overall, 16-4 MIAC) improved to 11-1 at home and ran their season win streak to five. They moved into a share of second place in the conference race, one game behind leader Concordia-Moorhead. UST avenged a 66-62 loss to the Blazers four weeks earlier in St. Joseph.

Kellie Ring had 15 points and six steals; Anna Smith added 11 rebounds; Jenna Dockter scored 10 points; and Young added six rebounds and five blocks. UST shot 46 percent from the floor.

St. Ben's (18-8, 16-4) had a season-low scoring output. The Blazers made just 1-of-14 shots to start the game and fell behind 16-3. They never got closer than eight points the rest of the game and finished just 31 percent in field-goal shooting. Tish Alexander led with 10 points off the bench.

The Tommies play at St. Olaf and at St. Catherine this week to close the regular season and need two wins to keep their title and top-two seed hopes alive.
