FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington forced Lyndon State into committing 22 turnovers and held the Hornets to just 21.1 percent shooting from the field, and cruised to a 60-37 North Atlantic Conference women's basketball victory Friday night at Dearborn Gym.

Junior Holly Oliver (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) paced UMaine-Farmington (8-13, 8-7 NAC) with 11 points, and completed her first career double-double with 14 rebounds. Oliver went 5-of-7 from the floor, including one 3-pointer.

Lindsay Ranquist (Owls Head, Maine/Medomak Valley) was the only other UMF player in double-digits with 10 points, built largely her 8-of-10 performance at the free-throw line. Ten different players chipped in points for the Beavers, including 21 points off the bench.

Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) and Aimee Thompson (Bradford, Vt.) each scored seven points to lead Lyndon State (5-16, 3-11 NAC). Gray also pulled down a team-high seven boards.

UMaine-Farmington opened the game with a 13-2 run, driven by four points each from Oliver and Ranquist. The Beavers held their double-digit lead through the first half, and went into the locker room at the break with a 27-14 lead. Lyndon State connected on just five of its 26 field goal attempts in the first half (.192), while UMF was 9-of-35 from the floor.

The Beavers continued to expand their lead throughout the second half, with the lead reaching its widest at 27 points, 58-31, at the 4:34 mark following a pair of foul shots by Ayla Allen (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley).

UMaine-Farmington returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 5:00 p.m. when it hosts Johnson State College. Lyndon State will play at Thomas College on Saturday, also in a 5:00 p.m. tip off.
