WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Lakeland College women's basketball team snapped out of an outside shooting slump with nine three-pointers in a 61-54 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College Tuesday night in a Northern Athletics Conference game.

Leah Eisner (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis.), Taylor Jandrin (Jr.-Forestville, Wis.) and Dana Henrichs (Sr.-Fall Creek, Wis.) combined for 45 points and the Muskies did enough to win, using a late 10-0 run to gain separation in a close game. Lakeland (8-12 overall, 6-7 NAC) snapped a four-game losing streak and also earned a sweep of the season series against the Crusaders while also gaining on Maranatha in the NAC North Division standings.

The Muskies only trailed twice in the game, both times coming in the first minute, but the game was close throughout and was tied six times. Lakeland led by just two at halftime at 27-25, and the game's last tie came when Laci Peterson hit a three-pointer for Maranatha Baptist with 6:50 to play to knot the score at 46-46.

Lakeland responded by scoring ten straight points. Eisner scored five points in the spurt, including a layup to make it 56-46 with 1:50 left. Just as importantly, the Muskies held the Crusaders scoreless for more than 5 1/2 minutes, as the hosts missed eight straight shots and Lakeland took control.

Eisner scored 16 points, while Jandrin tallied 15 and Henrichs added 14. Becky Mayo (Sr.-Gladstone, Mich.) also grabbed 12 rebounds, adding to her conference-leading average of 9.5 boards per game coming in.

Jandrin and Henrichs made three three-pointers each, and as a team the Muskies made 9-of-19 from behind the three-point line. Lakeland was considerably better from long distance than in close, shooting just 19-of-55 from the field for the game (34.5%) as the Crusaders' tall frontline caused problems.

The Muskies also were out-rebounded 50-36, and Maranatha Baptist collected 21 offensive rebounds. The Crusaders committed 23 turnovers, though, and shot only 32.8% from the field (21-of-64). Laci Peterson led Maranatha with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Lakeland now trails the Crusaders by three games in the loss column in the NAC North standings. Maranatha Baptist dropped to 9-4 overall and 6-4 in the NAC.

The Muskies hit the road again Saturday to face NAC South Division leader Wisconsin Lutheran College at 2 p.m. in Milwaukee.
