UW-La Crosse Falls to Nationally-Ranked UW-Stevens Point

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 65-57 to 16th-ranked UW-Stevens Point Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles drop to 9-12 overall and 3-9 in the WIAC while the Pointers improve to 18-4 overall and 10-3 in the conference. UW-Stevens Point is ranked 16th on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll.

The game was tied five times in the first half Saturday, including 17-17 with 4:45 left after UW-L's Jaci Vanden Brook scored on a layup. UW-Stevens Point finished the half on a 12-2 run to lead 29-19.

The Eagles used a 8-2 run to start the second half to cut the lead to 31-27 as Briana Radowicz scored five points and Trisha Van Dusseldorp three. UW-Stevens Point led 37-34 with 13:26 left in the game when it scored five straight points to lead 42-34. UW-L came right back with an 11-5 run to make it 47-45 with 6:47 remaining.

UW-Stevens Point's Tyler Myranda and Sam Barber each scored three points to give the Pointers a 53-45 advantage with 5:11 left. Erin Levenhagen and Radowicz scored for the Eagles to make it 53-49 with 4:08 remaining, but Myranda and Barber responded with baskets for the Pointers for a 57-49 lead.

Alyssa Clemment's three-pointer cut the lead to 57-52 with 2:58 left. After a Pointers' turnover, Van Dusseldorp made it 57-54 on a jumper with 2:34 remaining, but the Eagles could get no closer the rest of the game.

Brooke Allen hit a three-pointer with 2:15 left as UW-Stevens Point ended the game on a 8-3 run.

Radowicz led UW-L with 18 points while Van Dusseldorp finished with 17 and Levenhagen 10. Radowicz totaled five rebounds, four assists and three steals while Van Dusseldrop had six rebounds. Levenhagen finished with five assists and four rebounds.

UW-L shot 40.7% from the field, including 43.8% (seven-of-16) from three-point range. The Eagles shot 54.5% (six-of-11) at the free throw line.

Barber led UW-Stevens Point with 18 points and nine rebounds while Tyler finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

UW-Stevens Point shot 41.3% from the field, including 23.5% (four-of-17) from three-point range. The Pointers shot 52.9% (nine-of-17) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 6 at UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
