GETTYSBURG, Pa.  – Junior Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and freshman Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) combined for 37 points and the Bullets shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to push past visiting Ursinus College 64-48 in Centennial Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon inside Bream Gym.

With the win and Swarthmore College's (16-4, 12-3 CC) overtime loss to Johns Hopkins University (13-9, 11-6 CC), Gettysburg (15-6, 12-4 CC) moved within half a game of the Garnet for first place in the conference standings. The Bullets have four Centennial contests remaining on the schedule, while Swarthmore has five.

Gettysburg trailed Ursinus (10-11, 7-9 CC) by one at the break, but the Bullets jumped all over the Bears in the second half, doubling the visitor's scoring output (34-17) and shooting 13-of-25 from the field. The hosts never trailed again after sophomore Jenna Swope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored on a putback 18 seconds into the final frame.

Ursinus would stay within striking distance and trailed 45-43 following a lay-up by Alyssa Polimeni with 10:46 remaining. The offense picked up for Gettysburg at that point with a 13-3 run. Murphy and Porter each contributed a pair of buckets to lead the way. The Bullets' defense took care of the rest, holding the Bears without a field goal over the final seven minutes of the game.

The momentum early in the game appeared to be in Gettysburg's favor as the hosts jumped out to a 17-9 lead following a jumper by Swope at 11:59. Tori Steinberg helped bring Ursinus back with a pair of long-distance shots as part of a 14-0 run. Porter and Murphy would counter for Gettysburg, combining for 11 points over the final five minutes to keep the Bullets close heading into the break.

Murphy finished 9-of-16 from the field and 1-of-2 from the free throw line en route to 19 points. She grabbed 11 rebounds for her team-high seventh double-double of the year, while also adding five assists and a pair of blocked shots. Porter finished 8-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the charity stripe as part of an 18-point night. She added six rebounds and three blocks for the Bullets.

Junior Alyssa Isler (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half for Gettysburg. Swope chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.

Polimeni led Ursinus with 16 points, while Caroline Shimrock added 10.

The Bullets return to action against Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m.
