St. Mary's City, Md. – Senior forward Taylor Petrisko (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) poured in a career-best 19 points in helping the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team snap their three-game skid Wednesday night.  The Seahawks (9-9, 3-5 CAC) swept the season series with Wesley College with a 70-55 Capital Athletic Conference win.

Petrisko was 7-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line as she added a season-best five rebounds.  Senior guard Joanna Murray (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) and junior center Sophie Pruden (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) also scored in double figures for St. Mary's.  Murray contributed 15 points while Pruden chipped in 11 points and seven boards.

The Seahawks' big three of junior forward Marché Pearson (Baltimore, Md./Laurel), Pruden and Petrisko combined for 20 rebounds as St. Mary's tallied a 48-40 rebounding margin over the Wolverines.  Pearson corralled eight caroms while sophomore guard Sarit Truskey (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) pulled down a career-high six.

It was a tight battle in the first half as St. Mary's never trailed but the Wolverines (3-16, 0-8 CAC) stayed close.  Over a nearly four-minute span, the Seahawks put together a 6-2 run to lead 31-23 at 4:28.  Wesley closed out the final four minutes on a 10-5 run to only be down by three at halftime.

Petrisko picked up nine in the first 20 minutes to pace St. Mary's while Wesley's senior guard Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) led all scorers with 13 points behind a 6-of-9 effort at the line.  The Wolverines outshot St. Mary's 47.8% to 33.3% while the Seahawks earned 18 points of 16 WC turnovers.

St. Mary's picked up the pace in the second stanza, jumping out to an 11-point advantage behind an 8-0 run start to the half.  The Seahawks built their lead to 56-37 at 11:04 as their defense held Wesley to just two field goals in a six-minute span.

Miller finished the evening with a game-high 20 points while senior center Heather Fuller (Greenwood, Del./Sussex Tech) recorded a double-double with a game-best 13 rebounds and a dozen points.  Senior guard Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) added 13 points off the bench.

The Seahawks will look to continue their winning ways next Wednesday, February 6 when St. Mary's hosts Frostburg State University at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena on Pink Day.  Tip-off is slated for 6:00 pm.
