Brooklyn Extends Winning Streak to Five Straight with Victory over York

Jamaica, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team extended its winning streak to a season-high five straight games with its victory over the York College Cardinals in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup on Monday evening in Jamaica, NY.

With the win, Brooklyn improves to 14-5 overall on the year and 8-2 in the CUNYAC; while York drops to 1-18 overall on the season and 1-9 in conference play.

BC led from the opening tip and never trailed in the game, as Brooklyn jumped out on a 16-2 run over the first five minutes of the ballgame.

The Bulldogs held the Cardinals to just 17.6% (9-for-51) shooting from the field for the game and also scored 39 points off of 40 York turnovers.

Leading the way for the visitors was Brittany Bowen, the reigning CUNYAC Player of the Week, who led all scorers with 15 points. Vanessa D'Ambrosi added 14 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Charnelle Saint Laurent chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds. Tiffany Thompson contributed with six points, six rebounds and five blocks, while Nicole Francomano dished out five assists, to go with six steals. Asia Foster netted 10 points coming off the bench and Tamarah Jackson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

For the Cardinals, Stayce Kay Muirhead grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, to go with eight points; while Danielle Dunn also chipped in with eight points coming off the bench.

Brooklyn is back in action this Wednesday, January 30th, as the Bulldogs will play host to borough and conference rival Medgar Evers College. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 pm at the West Quad Center.
