Greensboro Women Fall to LaGrange Despite Richburg's 41

Bianca Richburg scored 41 points with nine rebounds in a 94-73 losing effort on Sunday against LaGrange (12-6 Overall, 7-4 USA South).  Richburg's total ranks her second in school history for most points behind Dionne Eccles 54 point overtime effort against Christopher Newport in 2008.

The Pride (9-8 Overall, 5-6 USA South) started the game strong with a 7-0 lead in the early minutes.  The advantage grew to  14-5 with 15:14 showing on the clock.

LaGrange fought back, climbing to within 15-14 at the 13:20 mark. With Greensboro clinging to a 23-19 lead, the Panthers ran off 16 unanswered points to take control at 35-23.  LaGrange would build on the momentum, taking a 48-29 lead into the break.

The Pride hung tough with the Panthers in the second half but were unable to climb any closer than 17 points.

Of her 41 points for the game, Richburg recorded 25 in the second half.  She also grabbed nine rebounds to come one short of her 15th double-double of the season.

Also contributing offensively was Jena Cabe with nine points and four assists.  Chevena Pickard finished with nine boards on the glass.

Greensboro shot 40.3% from the field for the game and lost the rebounding battle 47-38.

The Pride will look to rebound on February 2 with a home date against Averett.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
