Trailing by double-digits in Monday's game against Medaille, the Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team rallied, eventually taking the lead in the final minute only to see the Mavericks score seconds later and hold on for a stunning 64-63 win.

The Panthers' Geena Sneeringer hit a jumper at the buzzer that could have potentially sent the game into overtime, but it was ruled a two-pointer, allowing Medaille to escape with the one-point victory.

Pitt-Bradford trailed by 11 with 6:42 remaining before whittling the deficit to a field goal minutes later. Abby Brate's layup at the 4:20 mark capped an 8-0 Panther run and made it 56-53. Two possessions later, the Mavericks scored to extend their advantage to five.

Another layup by Brate with 1:49 left pulled Pitt-Bradford within two. The teams would trade baskets and after a miss by the Mavericks, Melanie Yanetsko drilled a three-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to put the Panthers in front 62-61. It was their first lead since the 12:07 mark of the first half.

Medaille elected not to call a timeout and with 35 seconds on the clock, Alicia Montalvo scored inside for the go ahead basket. Alicia Kimmel missed a layup on the other end, and Joelle Pollak hit two free throws to give Medaille a 64-61 cushion.

Brate drove the lane in the closing seconds and kicked it out to Sneeringer, who banked the shot in, but it was determined her foot was over the line.

The Mavericks led 30-22 with 6:51 left in the first half yet they would go more than four minutes without a field goal and only held a 32-28 advantage at the break. In the second half, the Panthers remained close until an 8-2 Medaille run pushed the lead to double-digits for the first time all night.

Pitt-Bradford shot 35 percent from the floor, hit 15-23 free throws and scored 20 points off 23 Maverick turnovers. Medaille dominated inside, outscoring the Panthers 44-24 in the paint and holding a 51-38 edge on the boards. The Mavericks hit on 41 percent of their attempts, scored 19 second-chance points, but were just 9-21 from the line.

Kimmel led Pitt-Bradford with 22 points and eight rebounds, and Sneeringer added 11 points and six boards. Allison Osborne and Brate chipped in with eight points apiece, and Brate had five assists and four steals.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 7-7 on the year and 5-3 in the AMCC. The Panthers host Penn State Behrend Thursday in another key AMCC matchup.
