GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team's conditioning was on full display Thursday night inside Bream Gym as the Bullets tallied 34 points in transition as part of an 83-39 victory over Bryn Mawr College.
Every Gettysburg (8-5, 5-3 CC) player that put on a uniform reached the scoring column with juniors Alyssa Isler (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and Cari McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) each posting a dozen points. Junior Cori Younghans (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) added 11 points, all in the first half, in addition to six assists and three steals.
Gettysburg did not run away from Bryn Mawr (1-11, 0-8 CC) in the early going as the score stood at just 7-6 in favor of the visitors just seven minutes in. The Owls would score only one more field goal for the remainder of the half as the Bullets mounted a 32-7 run. The host's full-court pressure forced 24 turnovers which led to 26 points in the opening stanza.
The Orange and Blue literally ran away to start the second period with Isler and junior Rianna Doane (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) scoring in transition on back-to-back possessions. Gettysburg would turn in 20 points in transition in the second half alone.
Freshman Emily Duggan (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) put the finishing touches on a 17-0 run with back-to-back offensive rebounds and lay-ups to set the score at 50-14 with 16:56 on the clock.
The lead would reach 47 (80-33) on a fast-break lay-up by McMaster with 2:18 to play.
