WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 63-49 win over Thomas College, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest Thursday night at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

UMaine-Farmington (5-8, 5-3 NAC) held the lead for the majority of the first half, with its largest lead being 12 at the 4:59 mark when the Beavers went on an 8-0 run.

In the first half, Thomas (3-8, 2-6 NAC) shot 34.8% (8-23) from the field, while the visitors responded shooting 37.5% (12-32) overall, adding four from downtown while shooting 26.7% (4-15). Thomas held the slim advantage in rebounds, 20-19, in the opening stanza.

UMF's Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine/Mt. Abram) led all scorers with 15 points in the opening frame, according for nearly half the Beavers' point total in a 31-22 lead at the intermission

Thomas was not able cut the deficit in the second half, as UMF increased its margin throughout the half. UMaine-Farmington's lead reached its widest at 20 points, 55-35 with just over eight minutes remaining, following a pair of foul shots by Lindsay Ranquist (Owls Head, Maine/Medomak Valley).

For the Terriers, Emilee Reynolds recorded a team high 15 points, shooting 4-of-9 from the field and adding six rebounds. Jasmine Bishop had a contest leading 13 rebounds in the loss to go with her six points.

Norton ended up with a game high 26 points for UMF in the victory, shooting 10-of-17 from the floor, and 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. Holly Oliver (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) chipped in with eight points and a team leading eight boards for the Beavers.

Overall, Thomas shot 33.3% (17-51) from the floor and 65.2% (15-23) from the charity stripe. University of Maine-Farmington shot 36.4% (24-66) from the field, 24.2% (8-33) from beyond the arc, and 53.8% (7-13) from the line. Thomas held the advantage in rebounds (47-35) in a losing effort.

UMaine-Farmington will return to the court next Thursday, Jan. 17, when it hosts Husson University in an NAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
