MANHATTANVILLE DOWNS OLD WESTBURY WOMEN'S HOOPS, 79-66

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury fell 79-66 to the Manhattanville Valiants in a non-conference road women's basketball game Saturday afternoon from Kennedy Gymnasium.  Old Westbury dropped to 4-6 on the season while Manhattanville now stands at 7-4.   

Old Westbury took an early five-point lead as Raven Pentz's layup put the Panthers up 5-0 1:29 into the contest.  Following a pair of made free-throws by Clarissa Gallagher that gave Old Westbury a 12-8 lead, Manhattanville took the lead for good with a 10-0 run to build a six point lead with 13:20 in the half and led 36-28 at intermission. 

In the second half, Manhattanville eventually led by as many as 18 points, 57-39 at the 10:15 mark. 

DeAndra Scott scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds with five steals to pace Old Westbury.  Clarissa Gallagher knocked down 4-of-8 from three-point range to finish with 16 points and three steals. Raven Price grabbed nine rebounds and Antoinette Jolly chipped in with five assists (1 turnover) and four steals.

Manhattanville was led by Alyson Caiazzo's monster 16 point-23 rebound double-double to go along with seven blocks and four steals.  Bri Pabson scored a team-high 18 points with four assists and four steals and Taylor Wilson followed with 17 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and four assists.  Ashley Raaf added 13 points. 

Old Westbury shot 36.8 percent from the field (21-57), 36.4 percent from three-point range (4-11) and 64.5 percent from the free-throw line (20-31).  Manhattanville hit 34.2 percent from the floor (26-76), 23.1 percent from beyond the arc (3-13) and 64.9 percent from the charity stripe (24-37).

The Valiants out-rebounded Old Westbury 56-41, outscoring their opponents 38-28 in the paint and collecting 16 second chance points off 28 offensive boards.  Manhattanville scored 29 points off 31 Old Westbury turnovers.  It was the fifth time this season Old Westbury coughed up 30 or more turnovers. 

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference road battle on Monday (Jan. 7) evening, taking on the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Riverdale, New York.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. from the Sharp Center.
