Franklin claims second Heartland Conference victory this week

ANDERSON, Ind. – Senior guard Lindsay Rich matched her career-best scoring total, leading Franklin College to a 63-53 women's basketball victory at Anderson University this afternoon.

The Grizzlies captured their second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on the road this week, improving to 4-2 in the league and 10-3 overall. FC moved into a three-way tie for third place with Hanover, which won, and Manchester, which lost.

The Ravens fell to 2-4 in the HCAC and 3-10.

Rich hit 5 of 7 field goal attempts and dropped in all seven of her free throw tries, tying her career best scoring total of 19 points for a single game.

Sophomore forward Lindsey Dall contributed 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds and senior center Jess Prewett added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Franklin essentially beat AU at the free-throw line, hitting 28 of 33 foul shots for 84.8 percent.

The Grizzlies outshot the Ravens from the field 35.6 to 33.3 percent. Anderson actually made four more field goals (20) than did the visitors.

FC held a four-point lead at the half at 32-28 before breaking away to an 11-point advantage at 44-33 with 14:36 remaining.

The Ravens came back to pull to within three points at 50-47 with 5:05 to go, but could get no closer.

Anderson was led by Amy Wuestefeld and Cori Conner, who scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
