Blanco Comes Off Bench to Record Double-Double But Four Fighting Blue Jays Reach Double Figures to Defeat Beavers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Beavers bench outscored NYU-Poly's bench 15-2 and were led by newcomer Giovanna Blanco's 11 points and 12 rebounds in only her second game of the season but Fighting Blue Jays (3-5) scored 20 points off turnovers to down the City College of New York (1-10), 62-56, on Saturday afternoon at Jacobs Gymnasium.

Playing in their second game in as many days, Blanco went 5-of-9 from the field and five of her 12 rebounds were on the offensive end. Junior Syreeta Williams led all Beavers with 14 points and Bria Fisher and Sajidah Pressley also reached double figures with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

City College was a force on the glass all game as the Beavers surpassed the 50-rebound mark for just the second time this season and 20 of their 51 rebounds were offensive. Blanco's 12 boards led all CCNY players while Williams and Fisher each posted eight rebounds. Guard Taylor Pompilio set a new career mark with seven rebounds and tied her career best with three assists in 29 minutes of action.

The Beavers return to Nat Holman Gymnasium to face the Cardinals of York College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
