Rochester Gains Eighth Win with 71-58 Triumph at Buff State

 BUFFALO, N.Y. – Ally Zywicki scored 22 points, one shy of her career high, to spark the University of Rochester to a 71-58 women's basketball victory at Buffalo State College on Sunday afternoon.
 
Jackie Walker scored 14 points for Rochester and Danielle McNabb added 10. Walker grabbed eight rebounds, seven off the offensive glass. McNabb blocked a career high five shots. Loren Wagner collected a game-high 11 rebounds for the Yellowjackets. Rochester is 8-2.
 
Ashley Wallace scored 22 points for Buffalo State. Shay Jackson was the only other player in double figures for the Bengals (4-6). She scored 12 points.
 
Rochester built a 10-point lead four times in the first 20 minutes, the last timer on Breanna Madrazo's layup with 4:41 to play (24-14).
 
The Yellowjackets went cold, and Buffalo State clawed back, taking a 28-27 lead on layups from Kelly Kell and Jackson in the final minute of the first half. Zywicki sank a three-pointer at the halftime horn to give Rochester a 30-28 lead at intermission.
 
Rochester slowly built a second half lead to 12 points, 60-48, on Paige Aleski's fast break jumper with 5:58 remaining. Jackson scored four points and Wallace had two more as Buffalo State drew within 60-54 with 4:17 left.
 
Zywicki and Wallace swapped layups to keep the margin at six. Walker's layup with 2:02 left put the Yellowjackets ahead by eight, 64-56.
 
In the final minute, Zywicki hit four free throws and Wagner sank two as the Yellowjackets held off the Bengals. The Yellowjackets hit 25 of 38 from the stripe. Buffalo State was five of eight from the line.
 
Rochester held a 49-37 advantage on the glass, 29-13 at the Buffalo State end of the floor.
