Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team picked up a key non-conference win with a 56-52 victory over visiting Guilford on Sunday afternoon.  The Saints improve to 7-3 on the season and push their winning-streak to three games with six wins coming in their last seven contests.

Katelyn Fischer put together yet another all around game for the Saints.  The senior captain led all scorers with 17 points and added a game-high seven assists to go with five rebounds and three steals.

Dominique Dickens added 13 points and nine rebounds for Marymount while Miranda Krott chipped in eight points and 10 boards off the bench.

Trading baskets early, both teams kept the game within at least two possessions before a 14-2 run over a six minute span gave the Saints a 28-14 lead with 4:12 remaining.  Guilford (8-3) would end the half on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to just eight at 28-20 going in to the break.

Coming out of halftime, the Quakers steadily chipped away at the MU lead before tying things up at 37-37 with 12:23 remaining.  Battling back, Marymount put together an 11-2 run over the next three minutes but GC responded with a 9-0 outburst of its own to knot the game at 49-49 with 6:56 left in the frame.

The Saints looked to have things in control with six unanswered points to lead 55-49 with 2:57 remaining but the Quakers knocked down a three-pointer with 54 seconds on the clock to pull within three.  Unable to score on its next trip down the court, Marymount's defense then locked down on a rushed final three-point attempt from Guilford as Dickens drew a foul on the rebound and sealed the game on the free-throw line with two seconds remaining.

Gabby Oglesby led the Quakers with 14 points while Kayla Adams added 12.

Marymount returns to action as it travels to the Sunshine State to take part in the Daytona Beach Shootout .  The Saints take on Berry on Wednesday before facing Fontbonne on Thursday.
