CANTON, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team headed north to St. Lawrence University to face the Saints in non-conference action this afternoon.  The host team used a dominant performance in the paint to outlast the Lady Mavs (70-57).

A strong second half by St. Lawrence is what led to the win as they turned a three point halftime advantage into a (13) point win.  The Lady Mavs struggled defensively in the lane as St. Lawrence outscored Medaille (40-22) in the paint.  The Lady Mavs were also unable to keep the Saints off the glass, as they out rebounded Medaille (42-27).

The Lady Mavs received a pair of (13) point efforts in the loss as both Brittney Rowland and Joelle Pollak accomplished that feat.  Rowland knocked down (4 of 7) shots from the floor and (4 of 5) from the charity stripe while Pollak knocked down three shots from beyond the arc.  Pollak also matched teammate Brittnee Perry with a team high (7) rebounds.  Perry pulled three of those boards off the offensive glass.

The Lady Mavs struggled shooting the ball on the day as they finished at (36.7%) from the floor but were able to connect on (41.7%) of their shots from downtown while shooting well from the free throw line, finishing (16 of 20) or (80.0%).

The loss drops Medaille to (5-5) overall as they head into the holiday break.  They will get back to action on January 5th when they head to Penn State-Altoona to re-open AMCC play.  They are currently (3-1) in conference play heading into the New Year.
