The University of Rochester sank 10 three-pointers – its highest total in a game in two years - and defeated RIT, 73-46, at the Louis Alexander Palestra.
Six players connected outside the arc for the Yellowjackets (7-2). Paige Aleski finished with a career high 12 points, hitting four of six outside the arc. Blair Landolphi hit two. Ally Zywicki, Jackie Walker, Kelly Scull, and Kelsey Hurley sank one apiece. Amy Woods led Rochester in scoring with 13 points.
Leslie Havens scored 11 points for RIT (2-4) and Kayla Wheeler added 10 points. Madelyn Apperson and Courtney Tennant scored six points apiece.
Aleski's second three-pointer of the game broke a 24-all tie with 3:49 left in the first half. It ignited a 13-3 run and Rochester held a 35-27 lead at halftime. In the second half, Aleski and Walker hit back to back threes and Zywicki added a layup in the first three minutes. Rochester led, 43-027 and the closest RIT got was 14 (43-29 on Tennant's layup).
The Yellowjackets outscored the Tigers, 38-19, in the second half. Rochester made 15 of 28 from the field after halftime and six of eight outside the arc. RIT hit eight of 25 from the floor in the second half, 0 of 8 outside the arc.
Rochester held a 41-30 advantage on the boards. Loren Wagner led the way with six rebounds. Woods, Katie Weiner, and Danielle McNabb had five apiece. Zywicki had a career high seven assists.
Jess Kramer grabbed five rebounds to lead RIT. She added four assists. Wheeler had three steals and sano two three-pointers.
Rochester sank 10 three point goals nearly two years to the day – on December 8, 2010 – in a 69-36 victory at Oswego. This was Rochester's second victory of the season over RIT. The Yellowjackets defeated the Tigers, 80-53, in the opening round of the Wendy's College Classic two weeks ago.
