Millikin Women Defeat Westminster

          The Millikin women's basketball team defeated Westminster College 72-61 on Dec. 9 in the final day of Millikin's 13th Annual Harriett Crannell Holiday Classic.

          Millikin led the entire game and was in control much of the game holding a 35-17 advantage at halftime.  The Big Blue shot 38 percent from the field while holding Westminster to just 32 percent shooting including 21 percent in the first half.  Millikin won the battle on the boards in dominating fashion 53-34.

          Senior Bria Williams led Millikin with a double double with a team high 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds.  Moli Copple had 12 points and eight rebounds.  Brittany Czaplicki had 10 points.  Senior Nikki Tipsword had a strong game with nine points and nine rebounds.  Olya Cholewick had nine points and six rebounds and freshman Alyssa Saklak added nine points and five rebounds.

          Westminster's top scorer was Hannah Kloster with 17 followed by Leigh Ann Lutz with 16.

          Both teams stand at 2-4 on the season.  The Big Blue will next play in the Tri-Conference Tournament at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo.  Millikin will play Fontbonne on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. and then face Illinois College on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
