Williams Scores Career-High in 77-61 Win Over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. --- Mississippi College senior Ebony Williams scored a career-high 24 points in the 77-61 victory over Centenary on Saturday afternoon at the Gold Dome.

The Lady Choctaws (3-1) bounced back from their defeat against Rhodes on Tuesday with a wire-to-wire victory.  After a jumper by Williams put MC ahead 4-2 just one minute into the contest, MC would not again be tied with the Ladies (0-3).

After taking a 38-26 lead into halftime, a three-point basket by senior Lindsay England gave MC their largest lead of the game at 24 points with 9:47 remaining.

Williams finished the game with 24 points and nine rebounds, going 10-13 from the floor.  Junior Jasmine James added 15 points for MC, going 5-9 from the floor and 5-6 from the foul line.

The Lady Choctaws had 12 different players score in the game as they shot 46% (32-69) from the floor as a team.  Senior Cailtin Brown had eight rebounds and two blocked shots for MC.

The MC defense held the Ladies to just 32% (24-74) shooting from the floor and just 22% (4-18) from the three-point line.

Vashni Sharp-Moore led Centenary with 22 points, while Dionecia Warr had 11.  Brianna Edwards had a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with eight points.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action when they open conference play on Thursday at Howard Payne.
