KEENE, N.H.-- The York Cardinals women's basketball took a tough loss to Keene State by a score of 96-36 in its season opener at the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament in Keene, New Hampshire Friday afternoon.

York had little preparation time heading into the season because of Hurricane Sandy and that was evident by York's sloppy play.  The Cardinals committed 41 turnovers and shot just 26 percent from the field to help Keene State dominate throughout the game.

The Owls shot 53 percent from the field and hit 5-of-14 from three-point range (36%). Keene State had five players score in double figures, with junior Carly Kiernen leading all scorers with 16 points.

Junior Shadaeya Green had 10 points, four assists, and three blocks to lead the Cardinals. Sophomore Stayce Kay Muirhead had a game-high 14 rebounds and six points.

York (0-1) will look for its first win of the season when they play a consolation game tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm against Mount Ida.
