Westfield State Rolls Past Lasell College, 90-70

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Freshman guard Keri Doldoorian (14 points, 7 assists) and sophomore guard Jen Ashton (13 points, 8 assists) led a balanced attack as Westfield State University rolled to a 90-70 non-conference victory over Lasell College on Thursday, Dec. 6.

All 12 players who suited up scored for the Owls (4-3), who outscored Lasell (3-5) 44-26 in the first half and 46-44 in the second half when both teams substituted freely.

Doldoorian's 14 points were a team high, followed by Ashton and sophomore reserve guard Molly Waitt with 13 points apiece. Waitt was 4 for 6 from 3-point range. Also scoring in double figures was sophomore center Gabby Felix with 10 points. Freshmen forwards Tayler Travis and Forbasaw Nkamebo had nine and eight points, respectively.

The Owls threw up 68 field goal attempts and made 32 (47 percent).  Westfield was 7 for 16 from 3-point range and 19 for 28 from the foul line.

The Owls actually trailed early, 13-10, as Lasell made 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc in the first half.

Sparked by second-unit players Waitt, Nkamebo, Angela Paterson and Tania Ortiz, Westfield went on a 14-1 run for a 24-14 lead with 8:25 left in the first half. Westfield's biggest margin over outmanned Lasell was 29 points, 68-39, with 10:16 remaining in the game.

Lasell sophomore guard Justine Ryan scored a game-high 16 points and freshman guard Molly Lauver finished with 15. Daniella Autencio added 10 points and Kim Archibald had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
