PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- Visiting Alverno College left Woltzen Gymnasium with a 59-51 loss at the hands of host Lakeland College on Tuesday night in a Northern Athletics Conference North Division battle.

The game featured 15 lead changes and three ties, but the host Muskies (2-5, 2-2 NAC) acquired the final lead, 39-37, on a pair of free throws with 7 minutes, 31 seconds left in the game.

Lakeland increased its lead to seven, 49-42, on a three-point play with just under two minutes to go, and kept the spread at two possessions the remainder of the contest.

Anna Boteva's fifth 3-pointer of the contest on the next possession cut the lead to four, but it was as close as the Inferno (3-3, 2-2 NAC) would get the rest of the way.

Lakeland responded with a short jumper on the next possession and went 8-for-8 on its final four trips to the foul line to seal the victory.

Boteva led Alverno with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor -- all of which were beyond the 3-point arc -- Devon Gorman added 10 points and Kayla Kennedy eight.

Jamie Hoernke grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Inferno, while Kenned had four assists and Kristen Speerschneider had three steals.

Leah Eisner got a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Muskies, as she was one of four Muskie players to score double-figures.

Alverno gets back to action on Thursday at Edgewood College in its third-straight road contest. The conference game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Madison.
