But the Bloodhounds, behind a pair of field goals in the last seven seconds of the half, pulled ahead by six and went into halftime up 32-26. Victor closed out the half with a lay-up at the buzzer after Tyana Hale took the ball away, one of John Jay's 14 steals, and delivered the pass to Simone just before the buzzer sounded.
Early in the second half, CMSV narrowed its deficit to as little as one, twice in the early stages of the final stanza as the Dolphins trailed 32-31 and 34-33 in the opening moments.
But the Bloodhounds used a 13-3 run to push the lead back into double figures as John Jay led 47-36 with 15:07 remaining.
The Bloodhounds held a relatively comfortable lead the rest of the way. CMSV's only mild threat came as the game was leaning into the latter stages. With John Jay leading 59-46, the Dolphins went on an 8-2 run to pull back to within seven as the Bloodhounds had a 61-54 lead with 3:08 to play.
But John Jay closed out the game outscoring the Dolphins 10-2 to go ahead by 15 which was the Bloodhounds' biggest lead of the night and final score.
The John Jay depth proved overwhelming as the Bloodhounds held a 32-4 advantage in points off the bench led by Simone's 24.
