FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (3-3, 2-1 Commonwealth) lost to the No. 8 Messiah College Falcons (6-0, 3-0 Commonwealth) by a margin of 72-39 Wednesday evening in a Commonwealth Conference contest at BB&T Arena.

Dyanna Prater connected on 5-of-15 from the field for a team-high 11 points in addition to dishing three assists and registering two steals. Rachel Wiley chipped in six points and six boards while Shakara Head also netted six points and hauled in four rebounds.

Messiah limited the Blazers to just four first-half field goals and took a 29-11 advantage into the halftime break. The Falcons picked up assists on 21 of 25 field goals and shot. 43.1 percent from the floor on the night. Dori Gyori finished with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs.

Briana Lee tallied five points, including a three-pointer, while Emily Maerz and Alexis Briscoe chipped in three points apiece and Ashley Fourcade and Sarah Marcello pocketed field goals as well.

Hood outrebounded the Falcons, 41-40, which included a season-high five rebounds by Olivia Hosch and a season-high four by Arianna Delerme

The Blazers look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Elizabethtown College Saturday for a 2 p.m. Commonwealth Conference matchup.
