Zywicki's 23 Points Shoot Rochester Past Oneonta St.

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Sophomore Ally Zywicki scored a career high 23 points, including six three-point goals, as the University of Rochester defeated Oneonta State, 61-51, on Wednesday evening.

The Yellowjackets (6-1) got eight points from Emily Trapani, seven apiece from Jackie Walker and Amy Woods. Oneonta (4-4) was led by Lyteshia Price with 12 points. Kristin Pappalardo scored nine points for the Red Dragons and Kelly Mulligan had eight.

Oneonta jumped to a 7-0 lead and was ahead, 20-16, with 8:59 left in the first half when Rochester went on a game-turning run. Zywicki hit three of her three-point goals in a span of 3:30 to key a 15-2 run that opened a 31-22 lead. Walker scored five points, a mid-range jumper and a three-pointer, and Loren Wagner made one free throw. Rochester led, 41-20, at halftime.

Trapani's basket in the second half gave Rochester its largest lead at 49-31 with 14:21 remaining. Oneonta closed to within six, 53-47, with 2:06 to play after a three-pointer from Pappalardo. Katie Weiner sank four free throws in 27 seconds for Rochester to restore a 10-point lead (57-47). Walker and Zywicki made two free throws each to clinch the win.
