MADISON, Wis. – During their two game winning streak, it seemed as if the Edgewood College women's team finally found their shooting groove. Concordia University Wisconsin's defense swarmed the Eagles and only allowed them to shoot 10.5 percent from three-point range as Edgewood College fell 61-48 to the Falcons.

Melanie Walker nailed a three-pointer at the 18:27 mark to put the Eagles up 3-2, but the Falcons regained the lead with a jumper by Katie Luethe which sparked a 13-0 run. Although Edgewood College found themselves in an early hole, the Eagles fought back with four straight baskets. Emily Anderson hit a layup and a free throw, Danielle Dixon added a three pointer, andMariah Hill knocked down a jumper to cut the deficit to six. The rest of the half, the Eagles had difficulty finding good looks and trailed 36-21 at the break.

Concordia Wisconsin scored on three consecutive trips to open their lead to 21 and continued their tough defense to hold the Eagles. Edgewood College tried to climb back into the game with three-pointers, but missed all eight of their attempts in the half. The Eagles were held to 17-for-64 (26.6 percent) from the floor and 2-for-19 (10.5 percent) from beyond the arc for the game.

Edgewood College pressured the ball the entire game and held the Falcons to 9-for-23 shooting in the second half and forced 23 turnovers, but could not find a hot hand.

Walker grabbed seven boards and put up 11 points to lead the Eagles, including making four of her five free throws. Brooke Negus snagged a season-high nine boards off the bench and Chelsey Watkins had six points, two boards, and three steals.
