FREDONIA, N.Y. – Senior guard Kahsyrah Bryant (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) played the best game of her career, leading the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team (4-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) to its first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory of the season over SUNY Fredonia (4-2, 0-1 SUNYAC), by a score of 67-56 on Friday evening.

After kicking off last season with a 0-4 start, the Hawks have completely flipped the switch by winning their first four games this time around. In addition, head coach Jamie Seward is now a perfect 10-0 against Fredonia in over his tenure at New Paltz.

Including Bryant, four Hawks scored double-digit point totals on the evening. Freshman guard Shannan Walker (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and freshman forward Michelle Valle (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science/Mathematics) each picked up 12 points, while freshman guard/forward Jennifer Sixsmith(Plainview, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) added 10 for New Paltz.

After trailing 10-8 just over five minutes into the game, the Hawks rallied to an 11-0 run to go up by nine. After the Blue Devils cut the deficit to three, New Paltz took control once again with a 10-0 stretch to go up 29-16. The two teams went back and forth for the rest of the half, with the Hawks going into the locker room carrying a 35-22 advantage.

The Blue Devils came out hot in the second half, bringing themselves within five in the first four minutes after Becky Hebert, the SUNYAC's leading scorer, scored 10 of the first 12 Fredonia points out of the break. This was as close as they would get, as the Hawks controlled the game the rest of the way.

Hebert led all scorers with 23 points on the night. Jaimie Warren was a big contributor for the Blue Devils as well, scoring 12 points and pulling down eight boards.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, Dec. 1, as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bengals of Buffalo State in their second SUNYAC contest of the season. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
