(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Senior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) scored a game-high 26 points tonight (Saturday, November 24, 2012) to lead the 14th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 58-55 win over Capital University on the second day of the 11th Annual Julie Costello Memorial Classic presented by Barleycorn's at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.With the win, the Saints improve to 4-1 and with the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-2.

Capital jumped out to an 8-4 lead with 13:29 to play in the first half when Jamie Caton made a lay-up.  Thomas More answered with a 9-4 run capped by a Long lay-up to take a 13-12 lead with 9:29 to play in the half.  The Crusaders responded with a 7-3 run to take a 19-16 lead with 7:57 to play in the first half when Rebekah Will made a three-pointer.  The Saints used a 6-2 run to retake the lead at 22-21 with 6:20 to play in the half when Long made a three-pointer.  Capital answered with a 7-4 run to take a 28-26 lead with 1:30 to play in the opening half when Stacy Timmerman made a lay-up.  Sophomore guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) made one-of-two free-throws with 37-seconds to play in the half to cut the lead to 28-27 at intermission.

The Crusaders opened the second half on a 15-9 run to extend the lead to 43-36 when Caton made one-of-two free-throws with 11:03 to play in the second half.  Thomas More answered with a 15-0 run to take a 51-43 lead with 6:41 to play in the game when Long made a three-pointer.  Capital responded with a 12-3 run to take a 55-54 lead with 54-seconds to play in the game when Cookie Geroski made one-of-two free-throws.  Thomas More closed out the game on a 4-0 run capped by a free-throw by senior guard Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with two-seconds to play in the game to give the Saints a 58-55 victory.

Junior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) and sophomore forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) just missed double-figure scoring as they both finished with seven points each.  The Saints were led on the boards by Kitchen, Krusling and junior guard Nakaharra Gaines (Fairdale, Ky./Fairdale) with five rebounds each.  Junior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with four, while Long led the team in steals with four.

Long and Beasley were named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the classic for their play in two games.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday (November 28) when they host Grove City College in both team's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener.  The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
