MU opens five-game road trip

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Sophomore forward Abby Lang (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman guard Justine Kruger (Francisville, Ind.) topped the points' chart for Manchester University at Calvin Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Lang scored a team-high nine points and a blocked a Knights' attempt, while Kruger contributed seven points and three steals. MU (0-3) battled back from an early 18-2 run by No. 6-ranked Calvin, trimming the margin to 11 (22-11) midway through the first frame. A 16-6 stretch from the home team to end the half extended the lead to 38-17, and the Knights went on from there to a 77-45 win.

Following Lang and Kruger were freshman guard Katie Arterburn (Indianapolis, Ind.) with six points and a blocked shot and junior forward Erynn Meiklejohn (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and freshman guard Dani Rettig (Fowler, Ind.) who scored five points each.

Coach Josh Dzurick's team continues its schedule Saturday, Nov. 24, with another visit to a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association school. The Black and Gold oppose Olivet College with a 3 p.m. tip-off inside the Cutler Event Center on Olivet's campus.
