Late Run Leads Brooklyn Past Rams

Amherst, Mass. - A 14-0 Brooklyn College run late in the second half led the Bulldogs to a 56-52 win over Farmingdale State in the consolation game of the Amherst Tip-Off Tournament. The Rams dropped to 0-2 on the season, while Brooklyn improved to 1-1 overall.

Trailing by seven in the opening minute of the second half, a pair of baskets by junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) and a 3-pointer by senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) tied the game at 28-28 with 17:11 left to play. Farmingdale State led 37-36 with 11:23 remaining before a 14-0 run over the next 4:17 put the Bulldogs ahead 50-37. The Rams closed out the game on a 12-3 run but fell short, 56-52.

Green, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, scored 15 points, had nine rebounds and seven assists, while Young added 15 points and five steals. Sophomore guard Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.) scored 12 points, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range.

Brooklyn was led by sophomore guard Nicole Francomano (Staten Island, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 14 points, while junior guard Vanessa D'Ambrosi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will play Union (NY) in the St. John Fisher Tournament on Saturday, November 24th at 5:00 p.m.
