Balance Carries Rochester Past St. Lawrence

Ally Zywicki scored a career high 17 points and three teammates hit double figures  as No,. 24 Rochester defeated St. Lawrence, 79-55, in the semifinals of the Chuck Resler Invitational at the Palestra on Friday night.

The Yellowjackets will play the University of Scranton in Saturday's championship game at 8 pm. Scranton defeated St. John Fisher, 65-58, in the other women's semifinal. St. Lawrence and St. John Fisher will play for third place at 3 pm.

 Loren Wagner, Breanna Madrazo, and Paige Aleski all scored 10 points apiece for Rochester. Wagner grabbed eight rebounds. Madrazo had three assists and one steal. Aleski hit a pair of three-pointers. Rochester made seven of 15 outside the arc. Zywicki was 3-for-3. She had five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Amy Woods scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds in 13 minutes.

Kara McDuffee scored 20 points for the Saints (0-1) who were limited to eight players in uniform due to injuries. Lauren Quattrocchi scored 12 points. McDuffee was 7 of 16 from the floor, 3 of 8 outside the arc with two assists and three steals in 34 minutes.

Five players contributed to a 10-0 run over three minutes midway through the second half that pushed UR in front, 33-18. It was 41-28 at the half.
