RALEIGH, N.C. (11/19/11)—Concordia rolled over Salem (N.C.) 73-46 to capture the championship of the Peace College Tournament in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday. The Cobbers beat Guilford 64-50 on Friday to gain a spot in the title game.

The Cobbers were led by the sophomore and junior trio of Alex Lippert, Emily Thesing and Tricia Sorensen. The three players combined for 84 of the team's 137 points on the weekend. They also collected 51 rebounds, had 15 blocks, nine steals and dished out 17 assists. Thesing was named the MVP of the tournament and Sorensen was placed on the All-Tournament Team.

Lippert, the team's sophomore center, averaged 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds for the weekend. She had a double-double in both games. She also came away with 13 total blocks in the two games and shot 40.0% from the floor for the weekend. Thesing averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. She shot 45.5% from 3-point range and added four steals in the team's two wins. Sorensen led the team in scoring. She averaged 15.5 points per game and came away with 17 rebounds. Sorensen shot a team-high 50.0% from the floor and added five steals and four assists.

Concordia also had a pair of freshmen guards average more than 7.0 points per game on the weekend. Alley Fisher recorded her first collegiate double-digit scoring night in the championship game when she went 3-for-6 from the floor and finished with 10 points. Katelyn Holland shot 45.5% from the floor for the tournament and averaged 7.0 points per game. She also grabbed three rebounds in each game.

Once again the Cobber pressure defense was on display in the tournament. CC held their opponents to a mere 25.8% shooting on the weekend. Neither team was able to shoot better than 30.0% from the floor against the Cobbers. Concordia also forced 32 turnovers and outrebounded their opponents 104-75.

Concordia will have a break for Thanksgiving and then play their final non-conference game of the year at Valley City State on Monday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
