WASHINGTON, D.C. – An already successful weekend became even better for the Gallaudet University women's basketball team as they defeated Penn. St.-Abington 63-41 on Sunday in the final home game of the season at the Field House. The win comes a day after the Bison upset College of St. Elizabeth, the second-place team in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).
The win gives Gallaudet (7-15, 5-11 NEAC South Division) its second two-game winning streak of the season as the Bison have won three of their past five games.
Gallaudet was led in scoring by sophomore guard Stephanie Weiss (Wellington, Fla.) who had a game-high 17 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Weiss also collected three rebounds and added two steals and an assist. Sophomore guard Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) was also a key contributor off the bench as she added four three-pointers and totaled 12 points. Freshman forward Arlene Ngalle (Washington, D.C.) led the team with eight rebounds. Gallaudet's bench outscored Penn. St.-Abington's bench 33-7.
