Bison lose season finale on the road against Penn St.-Berks

READING, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team saw its 2011-12 season come to a close on Sunday with a 70-46 loss on the road against Penn St.-Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest. GU had its three-game win streak snapped as the Bison were plagued by 35 turnovers and poor shooting.

Gallaudet (8-16, 6-12 NEAC South) committed its second highest turnover total this season which led to 29 points for the Nittany Lions. GU shot 36.2 percent from the field and only made 1 of 14 attempts (7.1 percent) from three-point range. Penn St.-Berks (9-15, 8-10 NEAC South) never gave the Bison a chance to find their shooting touch and pulled away throughout the entire game.

Freshman forward Arlene Ngalle (Washington, D.C.) came off the bench to lead Gallaudet with 14 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Stephanie Weiss (Wellington, Fla.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds but shot 1-for-15 from the field, 0-for-11 from three-point range. Weiss made 8 of 9 attempts from the free throw line in the loss.

Shakiyla Stone, Keisha Robinson and Fatima Rone each tallied 15 points to pace Penn St.-Berks. Robinson also had a game-high four assists, with Jaslyn Silva and Sherrie Satchel pulling down four rebounds each.
