DANVILLE, Ky. - Maggie Prewitt tallied a game-high 21 points, plus 12 rebounds and six assists in Centre College's 59-47 win over Guilford College in a first-round NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament game Friday night.

The win sends the Colonels (25-3) into a second-round home matchup Saturday (3/3) night against Washington University in St. Louis (21-5), a 79-64 winner over Ferrum College in Friday's first contest in Centre's Alumni Gymnasium.

The games were delayed by nearly three hours due to tornado warnings. The Guilford-Centre contest tipped off at 10:00 p.m.

Guilford grabbed a 30-25 halftime lead behind 10 of Gabby Oglesby's team-high 13 points, but Centre roared back in the second half. The Colonels held Guilford to two field goals during a decisive 26-4 run over 12 minutes in the middle of the period, which opened an insurmountable 57-39 lead. Prewitt had nine of her 10 second-half points during the run, plus three of her game-high six assists.

Centre got Guilford into foul trouble early in the second half and made 18-of-25 shots from the line, as opposed to Guilford's three-for-six free-throw shooting. The Colonels' Lauren Huter scored 13 points, and contributed six rebounds and four blocks. Centre committed just five turnovers in the game.

Oglesby added nine rebounds to her team-high 13 points. Kayla Adams chipped in 11 points off the bench, thanks to three three-pointers. Centre limited Guilford's second-leading scorer, Jazlyn Gibbs, to seven points on three-of-19 field-goal shooting.

Coach Stephanie Flamini's Quakers conclude their finest season since 2001-02 with a 22-7 overall record.
