Oneonta battled back with a 7-0 run and trimmed the lead to 11-8 following a three-pointer from Samantha Szkotak with 10:39 remaining in the opening stanza.

The Lady Monarchs responded with a 7—0 spurt to push the score to 18-8 on a Michaels three-pointer with 4:43 to go. In the second stanza King's slowly began to stretch the lead, cashing in on three-pointers from Rader and Simcox, to outscore the Red Dragons 11-2 to  build a 35-15 lead 5:20 into the second half.

Oneonta, however, chipped away with a 16- 4 run and eventually came to within 39-31on a jumper from Madison Slagle with 7:07 remaining. After King's responded with a three-pointer from Simcox to push the lead to 11 points, Slagle scored her fourth straight point to bring the Red Dragons to within 42-33 at the 5:36 mark. Tye Lady Monarchs, though answered again, this time with a big three-pointer by Lindsay Atchison to push the score to 45-33 with 4:23 to play.

The Red Dragons made one last attempt to come back and used a lay-up from Slagle and a pair of foul shots by Kate Wilverding to bring the score to 45-37 with 3:09 to play.  With Oneonta forced to foul, King's came through down the stretch from the charity stripe as Michaels made five-of-six foul shots, Manning scored on a driving lay-up, and Simcox added a steal and lay-up along with two more foul shots to up the Lady Monarch advantage to 56-39 with 0:50 to play.
