BETHLEHEM, Pa.(February 29, 2012) – The Cyclones' season came to a disappointing close in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Division III South Championship, as Centenary fell 77-57 to the host, Moravian College Greyhounds.

Moravian jumped out to an immediate lead when Hilary Murray drained a three-pointer to open the scoring. The Greyhounds went ahead 9-2 in the early going before Centenary went on a 9-0 run, taking the lead on a three-point basket by freshman Andrea Innis (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus). The Cyclones and Greyhounds played tight until Moravian pushed ahead 16-14 with 12 minutes before the half.

The Greyhounds slowly increased their lead, using strong offensive rebounding to go ahead 21-14 with eight minutes to go in the opening half. Senior Jen Vasta (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) broke the Moravian 6-0 run with a basket cutting the deficit to 21-16, followed by two made free throws by junior Danielle Trucksess (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood), bringing the Cyclones to within three.

Moravian would once again pull away, regaining a six point lead headed into the final three minutes of the half. Vasta would provide the response by hitting two jump shots and a layup to close the gap to 34-32 with under half a minute remaining. Moravian would make a free throw to go up 35-32 until Vasta stormed down the court with under ten seconds to go and drained another jumper to send the Cyclones into the locker room down by just one point, 35-34.

The Greyhounds stormed out of the half scoring the first ten points to increase their lead to 45-34 before Centenary senior Bridget McCann (Keyport, N.J./Keyport) was fouled, sending her to the line for two shots. McCann converted one of the two shots bringing the score to within ten points.

Centenary would fall back down by 13 points before getting its first field goal of the half at the 13:50 mark when Innis drove from the corner for a layup putting the score at 50-37. The Cyclones would cut the deficit down to ten on two free throws by senior Colleen Collins (Colmar, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and a basket by McCann as the game reached the midway point of the second half.

Moravian would again go up by as much as 16 points before Centenary would once again make a final push. The Cyclones again would cut the Greyhounds' lead to ten with just under five minutes to go. The ten point differential would hold for two cycles down the court until Moravian would benefit from an intentional foul call and basket on the next trip down the court to again push the lead to 15.

Despite Centenary efforts to close the gap in the final minutes, Moravian converted the necessary free throws to maintain its lead, eventually bringing an end to the Cyclones' season with a 77-57 win.

In the loss, Jen Vasta posted a game high 16 points while Danielle Trucksess contributing 14 points in the effort. In the end however, the game came down to rebounds where Moravian finished with a 66-44 advantage. With the loss, the Cyclones finish the season 14-12.
