Lady Choctaws Finish Season with 63-59 Loss to McMurry

PINEVILLE, LA - The Mississippi College women's basketball team finished their season with a 16-10 record after a 63-59 loss to McMurry in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Tournament held at the H.O. West Fieldhouse on the campus of Louisiana College.

The game went back and forth for the entire 40 minutes with neither team grabbing more than a seven-point advantage.  The Lady Choctaws held that lead with :45 seconds remaining in the first half at 32-25.  The War Hawks (19-7) scored the final four points of the half to cut the score to 32-29.

in the second half, MC led by as many as five points, while McMurry held as much as a four-point advantage.  The scored was tied 13 times and the lead changed hands 14 times in the contest.

Four Lady Choctaws were in double-figures, led by junior Elizabeth Brooks with 15 points and six rebounds.  Junior Caitlin Brown had 11, while juniors Ebony Williams and Traci Rodgers poured in 10.

MC held McMurry to just 40% shooting from the floor, but the War Hawks had 14 second chance points in the win.

Keshia Collins led McMurry with 17 points, while M.J. Vickers was the top rebounder with 11 in the game.  Riketia Thomas and Celeste Belizario were also in double-figures with 13 and 12, respectively.

The Lady Choctaws finished the season in the ASC Tournament for the 10th consecutive year and 13th time in 14 tries.

McMurry will move on to face the winner of the Louisiana College/Hardin-Simmons game tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in the ASC semi-finals.
