MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team won its second consecutive Northern Athletics Conference Tournament championship with a convincing 85-61 win over Dominican Saturday night at the Recreation Complex.

The Stars came out and scored the first four points of the game for the early lead, before the Warriors responded with eight straight points for an 8-4 lead at the 15:33 mark. The Warriors then held onto the lead for the remainder of the first half. The Warriors led by 10 points on five different occasions in the half and held a double-digit advantage for the final 5:28 of the half. The Warriors took their largest lead of the half of 14 points, 36-22, with 4:45 remaining and held the same margin at halftime, 48-34.

The Warriors shot a blistering 61.8 percent (21-for-34) in the half and were paced by Shavon Dillon's (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) 12 points. WLC committed just one turnover in the half and out-scored the Stars 24-8 in points off the bench. Meanwhile, Dominican shot 43.3 percent (13-for-30) from the field and was led by Sarah Budz's 12 points. The Stars turned the ball over just four times themselves.

After halftime the Warriors built their lead to 20 points at 60-40 with 15:57 remaining after a three-pointer from Dillon. Dominican cut the lead to 12 points with 9:28 to go in the game, but that would be as close as the Stars would get as WLC coasted to the 24-point victory.

Wisconsin Lutheran finished the game shooting an impressive 54.1 percent (33-for-61) including connecting on 60 percent (6-for-10) from three-point range. WLC also improved its defense after the break as it held Dominican to 33.3 percent (9-for-27) shooting in the second period and 38.6 percent (22-for-57) for the game.

Bench scoring was a big factor as the Warriors reserves out-scored Dominicans 39-10. WLC also controlled the boards as it out-rebounded the Stars, 43-36.

Dillon led Wisconsin Lutheran with a team-high 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Katelyn Kuehl (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) added 17 points and six rebounds for the Warriors. Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) was a force in the paint for WLC as she finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and five blocks. Dillon also had six assists to lead WLC.

Budz finished with a game-high 20 points, while also adding a team-best eight rebounds to lead Dominican (19-9).
