Greensboro Claims Share of USA South Title with 66-50 Win over Shenandoah

Danielle Duncan scored 25 points in her final regular season game at Hanes Gymnasium as The Pride defeated Shenandoah, 66-50.  It was an excellent night to finish the regular season and send off two seniors - as Greensboro was also celebrating Senior Night.  With the win, The Pride claimed a share of the USA South regular season title and will hold the third seed entering next week's USA South tournament.

Greensboro started off slow in the first half, but a long run midway through the first half opened up a double digit lead and The Pride cruised from their.  Trailing 10-6, Duncan hit two shots to tie the game and spark a 19-4 run.  Ten of those 19 points were scored by the senior and The Pride's other senior, Terrell, contributed three assists and two rebounds to the run.  The two teams traded baskets until the end of the half, which saw The Pride leading 36-23.

The Pride continued their strong play into the second half, leading by as many as 20 in a game that was never in any doubt.  Both seniors received standing ovations as they gave their curtain calls late in the half.  Duncan added four rebounds and two assists to her 25 point performance, while Terrell had six rebounds, seven assists and two points.

Bianca Richburg and Jena Cabe also had good nights for The Pride.  Cabe finished with ten points, hitting three of four shots from behind the arc and grabbing five rebounds.  Richburg finished with a game high 15 rebounds, had two blocks, an assist and a steal.  Her 11 points gives her 999 for her career and she hopes to break the 1,000 mark in the first round of the tournament.

USA South tournament play will begin on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:30.  As Greensboro holds the three seed, they will host Averett.
