BUFFALO, NY - The Lady Mavs accomplished something on "Senior Day" that no other AMCC team could do all season long, beat La Roche.  The Lady Mavs hung on for a (59-56) win over the Redhawks in a very exciting game.

In a game that had ten ties and five lead changes, neither team held a double digit advantage, and the Lady Mavs overcame (22) turnovers to hang on for a victory that clinched a first round bye in the AMCC Tournament.

The Lady Mavs used a blistering shooting performance in the second half to propel them to the win as they knocked down (12 of 16) shots from the floor in the final twenty minutes.  The hot shooting coupled with pulling down some big rebounds, were deciding factors in the game.

Leading the way for Medaille was Joelle Pollak who netted a team high (15) points while pulling down (6) rebounds and dishing out (4) assists.  Pollak buried a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining that gave Medaille a three point edge.  A La Roche desperation three would follow but fall short and the celebration would begin.

Junior Brittney Rowland had a strong day as she went (5 for 5) from the floor in an (11) point effort, including a pair of fast break layups midway through the second half that broke the fifth tie of the game.

Playing in the final home games of their career the trio of Medaille seniors each had a positive impact on the outcome of the game.  Guard Meghan Dougherty had a strong all around game as she netted (11) points, dished out a game high five assists and pulled down four caroms.  Tanisha Travis had (6) points and (7) rebounds in a game in which she fell into foul trouble early on.  Her sister Taneda Travis came off the bench to score five points and pull down two boards in the victory.

A pair of rookies also made their marks as Morgan Howe chipped in with (7) points, grabbed (6) rebounds and blocked a pair of shots.  Meanwhile Alicia Montalvo scored four points and pulled a team best eight rebounds.

The win is the 12th straight for Medaille and they close the regular season with a (21-4) overall record and a (16-2) mark in AMCC play.  They will head to La Roche on Friday (2/24) to take on the winner of the Penn State-Behrend/Pitt-Bradford winner.
