The first half was played fairly tight. Caltech (0-24, 0-13) took their first lead of the game at 12-10 when Marlyn Moore nailed a jumper with 13:31 left in the stanza. The home team responded with a 16-6 scoring run over the next eight-plus minutes to take their largest lead of the half at 26-18.

During the opening 20 minutes Moore scored 10 points while the Beavers defense held the Bulldogs to a 32.4 percent (11-of-34) shooting effort.

Redlands came out of the locker room playing well on both ends of the floor. They held Caltech to four made field during first 13 minutes of the half to help them string together a 28-11 scoring spurt to start the half.  With that 56-33 lead, the home squad held the Beavers to one field the rest of the way in sealing the win.

The home squad nailed half of their 32 field goal attempts in the second stanza to put any hopes of Caltech upset away. Redlands flipped the script on the Beavers as they held Caltech to a 5-for-22 shooting (22.7 percent) effort in the final half.

Redlands nailed 11 three-pointers, seven of which came in the second half, to aid in their winning cause.
